    VW 1976 Mk1 VW LT28 Campervan

A new van has been added to the stable.

If you know a bit about LT's, this van makes no sense at first glance. In any way, form or shape.

The front and the rear screams post-1992. The numberplate indicates over 30 years old. The doorhandles in the doors scream post-1992. The dash is pre-1983. So is the high engine cover. The interior looks like a predecessor of a Westfalia Sven Hedin or Florida.

    So what is it ??

It's a 1976 VW LT28, 2l petrol with full LPG conversion and obviously professionally converted by someone. Origin unknown.

The last owner has it 3 years and has done nothing to it. He doesn't know anything about it's origin either, nor did he have any interest. Before that, a polish lad is supposed to have owned it.

Anyhow, one of the previous owners has given the Bus a massive facelift by adding post-92 elements to the outside and inside of the van.

The Bus is 4-berth (2 below, 2 in the alcove) and comes with shower, kitchen, hot water system, seating for 5-6 people, a full solar system, leasure battery and whatever else you'd expect of a high end camper.

Anyhow. I'll be collecting this gem in the next couple of days and start to research better, what exactly is going on and where it came from.

It will be cleaned up over the winter and be ready for use in spring. Generally, it's very solid, but it has started to get some surface rust here and there and the roof needs a bit mending.

I was on a shopping mission today. Plans were made and executed.

"Elvis" is going to stay Petrol. A 1986 Porsche 924 2.0 (same block as the LT, but twice the power and k-jet injection) for breaking has been bought. The LPG system will also get modernized and I want to source a dual-pickup LPG tank, so that the appliances also can be fed from LPG.

The gearbox will also be changed from the 4-speed to a 5-speed if possible without hassle.

I just need to source some LT55 ARBs now.
